The Washington Wizards and Boston Celtics played Game 5 of their second-round series last night.
In Game 4, the Wizards and Celtics played a competitive first half and were tied at the break, but the Wiz broke the game open in the third quarter when they went on a 26-0 run to secure their fate and tie the series at 2-2. Or they could throw some dummy traps at IT. Boston should focus on running the offense through Al Horford and hopefully guys like Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder will step up again. Isaiah Thomas, the team's lone All-Star, played the role of facilitator Wednesday, attempting only 13 shots en route his 18 points and 9 assists.
The Washington Wizards need a victory here to force a game seven on Monday. Any Game 5 is integral in a 2-2 series, and Washington blew their shot to steal that critical lead. It was a great win in many ways, but mostly because of the C's ability to score points without star Isaiah Thomas carrying the load.
"I'm just amazed because we were so thrilled at the chance of getting Al even before he chose to come to us", he said.
Even though his team is averaging about 30 more points in Boston than in Washington during this series, Celtics coach Brad Stevens insisted that the venue isn't the most important factor in a game's outcome.
Wizards guard Brandon Jennings is hounded by Celtics defenders during Game 5 in Boston on Wednesday night. Anthony Davis came into the National Basketball Association known primarily as a shot-blocker, he's led the league in blocks twice and finished second in blocks this season to go along with scoring 28.0 points per game, yet he's not always named among the league's top two-way players. The Wizards have scored just 15.3 points per game off turnovers against the Celtics in Boston, where the Celtics have a 12.9 percent turnover rate.
Bradley continued to pour in points and added 11 more in the second frame, giving him a sum of 25 for the night on 10-of-13 shooting.
Bradley poured in a game-high 29 points, shooting 12-for-19 from the floor and 4-for-7 from three. Four of the five games have surpassed the Game 6 over/under of 216.5, and Friday night's contest should be another high-scoring affair.
"We had no answers for those guys".
They then turned the chant vulgar and transformed it to "F-- you Oubre once he began playing. We want Oubre!" at times during the first quarter.
Hey, Bradley Beal, why does the host come out on top every time?
But the Celtics have protected the rim well and Wall and Beal have shot just 47 percent in the paint (down from 60 percent against the Hawks).
This roller-coaster of a series and season between the Celtics and Wizards is heading down the final stretch.
Boston shot a blistering 52.9 percent (46-for-87) from the field and 48.5 percent (16-for-33) from 3-point range. Executing, stay poised. We know they might go on runs but we just gotta stick together because, at the end of the day, we're all we got.
