Someone won $2 million dollars this week on a ticket that was bought in Cuthbert.

Powerball usually runs higher, but Annison says Mega Millions made a big change earlier this year to bring jackpots in line with its competitor.

The multi-state Powerball and Mega Millions lotteries are sitting at combined jackpots of $690 million for the drawings that start tonight. The Mega Millions is drawn at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the drawing for the $384 million Powerball jackpot will be held, with the lump-sum cash option at an estimated $242.9 million. On Saturday, December 30th the Powerball jackpot will reach $384 million. That's because there are now longer odds in both games, leading to more frequent large jackpots. Players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play.

The last victor was on October 13, when two tickets split a $43 million jackpot. It also raised the price of a single ticket to $2.

Louisiana is no stranger to lotto winners, with a $191 million Powerball victor from Eunice back in October.

At 1-in-88 quadrillion, the odds of winning both jackpots are not in your favor.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. They spent more than $80 billion on them in 2016.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions and Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
