He spoke to thousands at arenas in the United Kingdom during his tours, often referred to as crusades, in the decades following his first visit in 1946.

His funeral service will be held Friday, March 2, at 12 noon in a canvas tent set up near The Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina.

CBN News reported on Thursday that Graham's coffin will be moved from the funeral home in Asheville to Charlotte on Saturday, Feb. 24.

Born William Franklin Graham on November 7, 1918, the man fondly recognized as "America's pastor" came from humble beginnings and grew up on a dairy farm in Charlotte, North Carolina.

At Graham's request, his casket was hand-made by inmates of Angola Prison in Louisiana in 2006. She died in 2007 at age 87. "I felt that at that moment, I was not only in the presence of one of my heroes, but one of the greatest men in American history".

Ford said Graham had a concern for the unity of Christians, adding the things he did, including helping to start seminaries, were to help draw Christians to work together.

The 2,300 invitations include President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and the living former USA presidents, George H.W. Bush and his son, George W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, DeMoss said.

He remembers being on the platform for one of Graham's crusades in Detroit.

Dr. Graham, a well-respected evangelist, has been welcomed into the homes and towns of millions of people with his television ministry and powerful crusades for more than 7 decades.
