There are 371 total seats in Punjab Assembly; however, only 367 are now occupied.
Pakistan People's Party have also initiated contacts with other political parties and the groups comprising independent senators to bring its own chairman of the Senate.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PTI secured five seats, PPP and PML-N-backed candidates two seats each, and JI and JUI-F one seat each.
Candidates from the PPP won 12 seats.
Independent candidates won 10 seats, including six from Balochistan and four from tribal regions.
In Balochistan, six independent candidates with unclear political affiliation were amongst the winners, while the PkMAP and NP clinched two seats each and JUI-F got one seat. The meeting called on the returning officers to take every possible step to making the environment peaceful and pleasant and in case of disorder, the matter would be explained to the Election Commission and a returning officer would be authorised to suspend the poll process. Its number is expected to swell as independent candidates might join the ruling party.
While PML-N has not spoken to amending the constitution in such a way, the party has been on a collision course with the country's judiciary since July when the Supreme Court ousted Sharif from power by disqualifying him over undeclared assets.

Total 135 candidates contested, including 20 from PPP, 14 from Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), 13 from PTI and four from Pak Sarzameen Party. Zubair Gul was president of the PML-N's United Kingdom chapter and had surrendered his United Kingdom nationality to contest the polls. During the meeting Afridi made a decision to join PML-N.
Members of the provincial assemblies and the National Assembly will elect senators on the seats which are going to fall vacant on March 11.
