US Attorney General sacks FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe

The firing came as the White House shows increasing frustration with the continuing collusion probe, which is focusing increasingly on the president's inner circle.

Turley writes, "McCabe declared that he was "singled out" after "unrelenting" attacks by President Trump and critics..."

Trump asserted that Mueller's team of investigators has a large number of "hardened Democrats, some big Crooked Hillary supporters, and Zero Republicans?"

But Mueller defenders say he, and more broadly the FBI, have safeguards in place to avoid letting any investigation be tainted by politics.

He also launched into an attack on Mueller's team, alleging possible political bias. Together, and along with some other shifty actors, they shepherded the Hillary Clinton email investigation along in a manner tailored to benefit themselves and their fruitful beltway careers.

President Donald Trump delivers remarks at the Make America Great Again Rally on March 10, 2018, in Moon Township, Pa. Trump heads to California on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, where he will view the border wall prototypes.

"In May, when Director Comey was sacked and I had my own interactions with the President, he brought up my wife every time I ever spoke to him", McCabe told CNN.

Tapper said that Trump's tweets seem to indicate that he's considering having Mueller fired, and asked Graham what he thinks of this. The president said the investigation "never should have been started", and said it was based on the "Fake Dossier" which was used "for surveillance of my campaign". Or a witch hunt.

So far, four former Trump campaign aides have been charged with financial crimes or with lying to the FBI, and three of them have pleaded guilty and agreed to assist in Mueller's investigation.

"Michael Flynn was indicted for making a false statement to investigators". Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, has pleaded not guilty to charges in the case.

Trump's criticism of Comey is not speculation.

"Analyze McCabe firing on two levels: the substance and the timing".

He tweeted that the inquiry was unfair - and reiterated there had been "no collusion" between his election campaign and Russian Federation. That conclusion came from Republicans on the committee; it was not a committee finding.

The former No. 2 official at the FBI told CNN that Trump did not bring up the agency's investigation into Russian Federation meddling in the 2016 election.

"It is not a collusion probe". Trump has repeatedly accused McCabe of dishonesty.

Trump's Sunday morning tweet made it look as if Comey's old testimony directly contradicted a statement that former Federal Bureau of Investigation deputy director Andrew McCabe released last week, claiming that Comey knew McCabe had authorized agents to speak anonymously to a reporter in 2016. How many lies? How many leaks?

He followed that tweet with another one that mentioned Comey by name.

THE FACTS: Some context is missing here. Terry McAuliffe, D-Va., a longtime Clinton friend. Jill McCabe lost the race.

Dowd told the AP that he neither was calling on Rosenstein, who oversees Mueller's inquiry, to fire the special counsel immediately nor had discussed with Rosenstein the idea of dismissing Mueller or ending the probe. But that timeline is wrong.

After an extensive and fair investigation and according to Department of Justice procedure, the Department's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) provided its report on allegations of misconduct by Andrew McCabe to the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR).
