ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Leonard returned to NY for rehab on Monday.
According to reports, San Antonio's medical staff has been in NY on both occasions to stay updated on his progress.
This is Leonard's second extended trip to NY to consult with his own outside medical team and workout at the NBPA's Manhattan facility.
Leonard has worked out at the NBA Players Association facility in Manhattan during both of his stays in NY. He spent an extended period in NY prior to the February All-Star break. "So when he and his group feel he's ready, then he'll be ready".
The 2017-18 season continues to wind down for the San Antonio Spurs, who still have just five games left on their schedule.
Added up, the playoffs are about to commence and San Antonio has no clue whether it will have the services of the two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
"I've been through it", Parker said recently.
The former NBA Most Improved Player then continued that the Celtics could offer Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum plus Al Horford, Marcus Smart, and Terry Rozier to the Spurs to get Leonard.
Leonard stepped away to focus on rehabbing the injured quad after a nine-game return to the Spurs that ended on January 13. He has been cleared by team doctors but has not felt 100 percent comfortable on the leg when attempting to play or practice. He spent an extended period in NY prior to the February All-Star break. In limited minutes in Leonard's nine games this season, he averaged 16.2 points and 4.7 rebounds a game. Parker elected to utilize the Spurs' doctors while Leonard sought consultation outside the organization, which is a practice the franchise encourages as its goal is to protect the player's long-term future.
Rose said that he expects Leonard to try to get as physically healthy as possible in time for the offseason and to enter a situation "that is going to make him happy" and that "it is not (going to be) in San Antonio".
