The Cleveland Browns select Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma first in the National Football League draft.

But Mayfield also garnered negative attention in recent years for his on-field antics, which included making an inappropriate gesture toward Kansas' sideline and planting Oklahoma's flag on Ohio State's logo at the 50-yard line after the Sooners' victory over the Buckeyes.

Throw your support behind Mayfield with the brand new 2018 NFL Draft rookie jersey or other piece of Cleveland gear, such as the Draft night hat which was seen throughout the evening on stage by selected players.

In fact, ESPN Cleveland radio host Aaron Goldhammer was so confident Mayfield wouldn't be the pick, even as reports snuck out that he would, that he promised on air Thursday that he would "eat horse poop" if the Browns selected the Heisman victor.

Goldhammer's confidence quickly turned into a lost appetite and apparently a few tears, letting Twitter users know he was feeling "like poop". His agent disputed that, but Barkley is headed to the biggest market nonetheless.* Browns fans who wanted to wait on a running backSo the Browns didn't get Barkley. Baltimore has invested a ton in the tight end position over the last three seasons, and now they're investing again with a first-round pick once again with Hurst, who's going to be 25 at the start of the season.

"In doing all of our research with Baker Mayfield, he has earned it, from high school, to college, he has earned it", said Browns general manager John Dorsey. "It took time, but it got better and felt better every time I got to run on it and play on it". "He's been up front and honest about messing with me about my mistakes and I've been honest with him about what I learned from it, the fact that it shoudln't have happened". Mayfield, who wasn't really being mentioned at No. 1 overall in the weeks leading up to the draft, wound up being the Browns top pick. I like the guy.

Although the Cleveland Browns didn't win a single game last season, Mayfield says he is excited to get to work and hopes to change things around for the team.

Mayfield had some character questions while going through the draft process.

Mayfield's presence should provide an immediate spark in the quarterback room, where he'll likely compete for the starting job with former Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who was acquired in the offseason.

This is the second straight year the Browns have picked first. "He's a guy that I could sit behind and learn from".
