Star Wars Battlefront II microtransactions are back?! Why?!

"Ewok Hunt" will be available in Star Wars Battlefront II for a limited time starting April 18.

Star Wars Battlefront II is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. Players can buy loot boxes with either crystals or credits, which are earned through in-game activities.

Well, with the Night on Endor update the Ewok Hunt mode starts with an ambush from the Ewoks and every time a Stormtrooper is killed, it spawns yet another Ewok.

In addition, EA is bringing back premium currency, which can only be purchased using real-world money, and can only be used for cosmetic items. A Q&A near the end of the community update teases Clone Wars content coming to Battlefront II eventually, but whether that will be part of one of the monthly content drops or larger seasons remains to be seen.

Microtransactions were pulled from Battlefront II hours ahead of its launch in North America, reportedly due to Disney CEO Bob Iger's concern over the intense backlash the original system received from fans.

The Night on Endor update isn't arriving alone, though.

In total, more than 50 additional Appearances will be included in the update, such as Wounded Chewbacca with an arm patch, Scarred Kylo Ren, Administrator Lando, Hooded Yoda, and Ahch-To Rey, as well as forty new Trooper Appearances.

For anyone who didn't watch 1984's Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure, Wisties are a race of fairy creatures who call Endor their home, and they are sure to come in handy in the Ewok's battle against Imperial forces. Frankly, Ewok Hunt sounds like a whole lot of fun and we can't wait to try it out. Will you be jumping back into Battlefront II? "And we've heard that this is overshadowing an otherwise great game". The game's subreddit highlights transparency issues on whether or not continuing players will receive content beyond shallow microtransactions as well as berating EA for exaggerating the content it is adding within the update.
