Xiaomi Redmi S2, the Chinese smartphone maker's recent offering which was launched in China last week, is said to be coming to India in June as Xiaomi has scheduled a launch event in the country on June 7. Now it seems Xiaomi is also going to skip a model number for its forthcoming Mi series smartphones.

In addition to the selfie camera, Xiaomi Redmi S2 also houses a dual-camera setup at the rear which is a combination of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors.

Acknowledging the success so far, Manu Jain, the global vice president of Xiaomi and Managing Director of Xiaomi India, said that the company will continue providing high-quality innovative technology to its users.

Xiaomi may be the leader in smartphone shipments in India as per latest IDC report, but if there is one area where it does need work is in its camera depart. Soon the Xioami Redmi S2 smartphone will see the light in India too. If you look at the Mi A1 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, the devices ships with improved camera sensors. Additionally, handsets like Mi S-series, Redmi 6-series, Redmi A-series, and more have been listed.

Xiaomi dethroned Samsung as the largest smartphone brand in India during the fourth quarter of 2017. The phone has been launched at an initial price of Rs. 10,000. While the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version costs 1299 yuan (Rs. 13,735 approx.).

According to GadgetsNow, in terms of specification, this Note 5 successor is expected to feature a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2160 pixels and 424 pixels per inch (ppi). This translates into an 18:9 aspect ratio which has become the norm for even budget smartphones.

The selfie camera of the phone is the biggest highlight. There's a dedicated microSD card slot as well for storage expansion. The 4G feature phone market grew more than 50 percent quarter-on-quarter, a growth that is credited mainly to the JioPhone. Similar to the iPhone X, the Xiaomi Mi 7 (or Mi 8) is supposed to come with an IR camera on the front, which is used to enhance the Face Recognition performance. Interestingly, the list also includes a few handsets, such as Mi Mix 2s and Redmi S2 - which have already been launched in other markets.
