In races across the country, Ocasio-Cortez's endorsement has been an incredible signal-booster, drawing fresh attention to candidates who had been struggling for it.

But some of her biggest margins came in Queens neighborhoods like Astoria and Sunnyside, among the whitest areas in the district, which are increasingly attracting young, creative types-who are also most inclined to support insurgent left candidates.

It was significant not only because she toppled a longtime leader of the Queens political machine and the fourth-ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives, but because she is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.
"My mom scrubbed toilets so I could live here & I grew up seeing how the zip code one is born in determines much of their opportunity", she tweeted.

Cardillo has since tweeted more than a few times about Ocasio-Cortez, saying he believes that she'll fail in Congress and that, despite his incorrect mention of where she went to school, he still believes she's "not a 'girl from the Bronx.'".
