As Jack Wilshere made his Emirates Stadium return, Mesut Ozil was missing from the Arsenal squad - officially through illness but with some reports suggesting he was dropped after a fall-out with Emery.

Lacazette's first opportunity came to him on the edge of the West Ham penalty area but he shot straight into the arms of the West Ham goalkeeper. I think that Arsenal are going through the same thing. He made a number of saves in the last 20 minutes but repeated defensive lapses kept the visitors under pressure, before Danny Welbeck scored the simplest of goals, after being left unmarked six yards off the line in stoppage time. "Today I said to him, come if he feels better".

Wilshere is looking to relaunch his career at West Ham after several injury-hit campaigns with Arsenal, and Pellegrini believes the Brit can be compared to the former Juventus and Milan playmaker.

The Gunners have lost their opening two league matches for the first time since 1992 - to Manchester City and Chelsea.

Despite the three points, Emery said there was still plenty of room for improvement and that his team couldn't find the right balance between attack and defence in the first half.

Pellegrini then wrapped up his talk about team news by admitting that there will be changes from last weekends second-half disaster against Bournemouth, although is staying tight-lipped about potential starters, saying only: "Maybe against Arsenal I can make some changes because I think the players played bad".

Team News! Arsenal first! .

"We were unlucky to concede an own goal that put Arsenal on top".

"I am not happy with the result but I am very happy with the performance of the team", he told a news conference. The team, in the current way, created a lot of chances.

"We need to have points, but every game we improve a little more".

"Every club you sign for they give you the same pitch: 'We've got a big project, big ambitions, we want to achieve this and that, we want to kick on, ' and I just happen to be lucky that City was the one club that didn't lie about it", added Kompany.

"It's clear we need to improve, we will continue working on not conceding as many chances to the opposition".
