The Patriots had just signed Coleman last week in one of their many recent moves to find more help at wide receiver before deciding to release him for Gordon.
As Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal revealed, Gordon posted a photo of Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier in a Drew Bledsoe jersey shortly after the news.
That the conditions were taken off the seventh-round pick would seem to suggest that the Patriots insisted on removing that language, and the Browns gave in. The wide receiver corps has been an issue for them going back to all of the injuries suffered in training camp.
Gordon joined the Patriots receiving group which includes Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett and Cordarrelle Patterson.
The Patriots aren't done working with Corey Coleman.
It's not yet clear if he will suit up in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football. Jones joined the Baltimore Ravens practice squad after the Patriots released him during final cuts earlier this month. That was the big topic on the newest edition of "A Slice Of Sully", with WBZ-TV Sports producer Scott Sullivan skeptical that Gordon will turn his career around in a Patriots uniform. Belichick will hold a press conference on Friday, during which he'll likely field additional questions about Gordon.
